Rangers Wish List
Sometimes donors want to know that their funds go directly towards some specific item for camp. In our site we have developed a "Rangers Wish” list that will not likely fall within this year’s budget reach, but is on the approved list. Alumni like Doug Mann was great at picking one or 2 items a year that were on our wish list and he and Barbara funded that specific need, like the purchase of chairs for the lodge, certain kitchen equipment items, washer and dryers, things like that.
The Wish List is structured so that the top priority items will be posted so any donor can pitch in towards the total until the goal is reached. Then we’ll bump up another "Wish” for open donations - large and small. Of course, any Wish can be funded at any time if a single donor will fully fund the item. We’ll keep a running total so you’ll know where we stand. This year we focus on professional needs, the cost of certain operations and a couple of items that would be really helpful.
When you run between 5000 to 7500 campers a year through the property, the wear and tear on the facilities really add up. The budget for misc repairs is generated from the Summer Camp Program and any facility rental income from non scout groups. Unless the maintenance project is a large expense, it is only funded by the summer and rental operations and not the annual building improvement capital budget.
As you can well imagine, the need is much greater than the means.
