The Main Lodge
Established in 1933, Camp Lassen has been the site for an unforgettable outdoor experience for 10's of thousands of Boy Scouts, Youth Groups, Church Groups and Students. Located in at the headwaters of Big Chico Creek, the facilities have been designed to accommodate Scouting’s wide range of age levels and the camping skill levels of non-Scout Groups.
In the early 1980's, the Mount Lassen Area Council made a commitment to keep the camp open, and expand the older-scout program high adventure program, increase the capacity of camp, and to serve additional youth through the rental of camp to non-scout youth groups, school educational camps and church groups. A 20 year renovation of the facilities began in 1982 resulted in a 2400% increase of usage from 285 total campers in 1978 to over 7500 today. A tremendous amount of effort went in to not only keeping the camp open, but grow and expand to become true community treasure.
Going on a century, it’s time for some upgrades
The 75th Anniversary of Camp Lassen started another new effort on the renovation on the most visible centerpiece of Camp Lassen, the Lodge. We now are working on a number of specific projects that will protect the Lodge structure first, and then improve the usability of the building.
